The capital, Jaén city, is a small but historic town with a beautiful cathedral, Arabic baths, and university life.

The province is famous for UNESCO-listed Renaissance towns, Úbeda and Baeza, as well as the Sierra de Cazorla Natural Park, one of Spain’s largest protected areas. If you’re moving to Jaén, expect a laid-back lifestyle, great local food, and stunning countryside views.

Major Festivals:

  • Semana Santa (March/April) – Traditional Easter processions.
  • Feria de San Lucas (October) – One of Andalucía’s last big fairs of the year.
  • Fiesta de la Aceituna (December) – Celebrating the olive harvest.

Public transport in Jaén province is mainly bus-based, as there is no metro or tram system. The capital, Jaén city, has a local bus network, while interurban buses connect smaller towns and villages across the province. The train system is limited but offers medium- and long-distance connections to major Spanish cities. Taxis and ride-sharing services are also available, but public transport remains the most affordable way to get around.
